Survey: Sixty Percent Of Corporations To Skip Windows 7

This won’t be considered good news by Microsoft; many companies skipped Windows Vista as well. It’s true however, that much like voters in California, it was a small “turnout.” 1,000 responses from 20,000 surveys is not a good percentage. Still, the survey found that about 60% of those surveyed have no plans to deploy Windows 7, while 5.4% will deploy it by the end of 2009 and 34% will deploy it by the end of 2010. Windows 7 is set for general availability on Oct. 22nd. Some of the reasons given:
Of course, many corporations wait until the first service pack for any new OS to be released before adopting it anyway, and that was borne out by a survey quote from Sean Angus, a senior personal computer technician at Middlesex Hospital, who made that statement, adding: “The IT department must complete thorough testing to ensure that the applications we rely on each day, specifically radiology information systems and financial applications, will be compatible, before deploying any new platforms or software to our 1,500 desktops.” You can read the full survey here (.PDF). |
